The winery at Checkerboard is a small building reflecting a 'four-poster’ barn style found in early New England. We did not want a large building impacting the quiet and natural surrounding environment.

This little gem comes from the noblest vines of the Veneto region. Carefully selected by our winemaker Fiorenzo Franceschi. The most developed grapes are chosen during harvest to undergo a further drying process which guarantees the superb quality of this wine...

Dry red wine. 12.5 % Alc/Vol.

The 2017 Gran Reserva Malbec is selected from old Vines from Mendoza and undergoes 15 months aging in new French and American oak. It integrates the oak with aplomb, the nose is vibrant and well-defined, with notes of cassis, blueberry and blackberry. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, silky tannins enhanced by a patina of dark chocolate-tinged black fruit. The texture of the wine will perfectly compliment many good meat dishes.

The butteri are among Italy's most skilled horsemen and women. A kinship bound by honor and integrity, they are devoted to upholding the ancient tradition of herding wild cattle through Tuscany's rugged terrain.

This Bordeaux wine comes from the Côtes de Blaye appellation which is known for providing some of the best value wines. It offers a medium body with intriguing and generous notes of black currants, blueberries, tobacco and mild spices. It's perfect balance and soft tannins make it a great accompaniment to any meal.

Very nice deep ruby color, dazzling. Nose of black cherry, salted caramel, gingerbread. Full and indulgent on the palate with notes of brioche. Very nice impression of sweetness.

Crafted in 6 ton fermentors, the cap management was primarily pump and pour overs combined with a few rack and returns. Spontaneously fermented by indigenous yeast, each fermentor reached temperatures between 87-90 degrees F.

The distinctive portrait on the front label depicts Christoph Willibald Gluck, who was a German opera composer that returned to opera its theatrical content, lost in the Baroque and the theater director at the Court of Vienna.

This rich, old tawny port owes its intense and complex nose to many years of aging in oak casks. With an intense amber-tawny color, the wine has opulent, voluptuous, spicy, jammy, and nutty aromas with orange blossom notes and a fine oak influence coming from the long aging in cask.

Beringer's California Collection is named for the ripe fruit flavors that characterize the wines as well as the bountiful and sunny state in which they originate. Full of jammy black fruit flavors that make this wine enticing from the first sip.
