Numanthia Termes 2018
The termes grapes are selected for their intense fruit expression, characteristics of the perfect adaptation of the tinta de Toro vines in the terroir of the Spanish Toro region. Elaborated at Numanthia, Terres is a wine revealing classy aromas and rich and complex flavors with abundant fruity notes, integrated with hints of cedar and toasty characters.
Bodega Numanthia was named in tribute to the town of Numancia, renowed in antiquity for its legendary resistance to Roman invasion. Under attack from raiding ligions in 133 BC, the townspeople fought to the last, choosing death over the dishonor of surrender. Such tenacity and resilence must also run in the soil, for many of the estate's vines date back well over a century. Bodega Numanthia lies among hills sculpted by the Duero River in Northwestern Spain, not far from the Portuguese border, and has an extreme climate of hot, dry summers and cold winters. Its first vineyards were planted in 1880, growing touch, tenacious vines that resisted the phylloxera epidemic when it ravaged Europe's vineyards in the 19th century, and today the estate continues to pioneer the rebirth of resilient Toro wines.
