Porto Kopke Fine Ruby
The hand-stenciled Kopke port bottles express the traditional artisan quality and nostalgic appeal long associated with the enjoyment of the finest ports. The secret to the richness of this fine tawny port is four to five years aging in small casks.
Traditional Douro grapes, mainly Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), and Sousao. Produced, bottled, and shipped by Sogevinus Fine Wines. Kopke is the oldest brand founded in 1638 by Christiano Kopke, descendant of a German family that was originally from Hamburg. At the end of the 19th century, Kopke was sold to the Bohane family, who manged the company from London until 1953 when the company was sold again to the Barros family (already in the port wine business). Since 2006, the company belongs to Sogevinus Fine Wines, now joined by a new generation who is always trying to keep Kopke as the jewel of the wines it commercializes. Selling about one million bottles of port wine a year, Sogevinus widens its presence in the port wine sector mainly through its colheitas and vintage ports.
