A fresh white wine with light-medium body and wonderful citrus and pear flavors. This wine is a sterile, off-dry wine with no resemblance to any Chablis I have ever tasted. This 5 liter box possesses the statement "made with natural flavors," but I am unsure of what that signifies.
Somehow cooperatives developed a bad reputation. While it is certainly true that cooperatives can make mediocre wine, it is also true that estates can be guilty of the same crime. It’s not the nature of the business that determines quality, but what happens in the vineyard and cellar. Burgans is a custom cuvée made for European Cellars by Martin Codax, the largest cooperative in Rías-Baixas. Founded in 1986 by about 50 families with small plots of Albariño around the village of Cambados, it has grown to include almost 600 families and well over 3000 small parcels of Albariño.
Fruit is night harvested, when the temperatures are cool to minmise oxidation, making it easier to manage in the winery. After that, we tinker as little as possible, letting the vine and the flavor speak, gently guiding it through the course of the winemaking process.
This 2021 rendition boasts beautifully fresh, fragrant aromas of honeydew melon, grapefruit and guava, with a slight floral note. Full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with a silky texture, its vibrant melon, citrus and gooseberry flavors are perfectly balanced, leading to a long, succulent finish boasting bright citrus and mineral tones. Enjoy this classic sauvignon blanc over the next 3-5 years with your favorite salad, seafood, poultry and vegetarian dishes.
Villa Caterina Pinot Grigio is a refreshing white wine produced in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. The wine is named after Villa Caterina, a historic estate known for its beautiful vineyards and traditional winemaking techniques.
The 2021 growing season was preceded by mild and dry winter weather from January through March. Winter rainfall was largely absent across Northern California and the Napa Valley entered the growing season with rain totals that ranged from 40 to 60% below normal and had temperatures that were two to three degrees warmer than average.
This wine holds a special place in our hearts hailing from the birthplace of the Three Sticks story, our first vineyard, laying the foundation for our incredible collection of vineyards. Our original Heritage vineyard, Durell, is highly regarded throughout Sonoma, characterized by its diverse microclimates and rocky volcanic soils.
