“Viña Ijalba”
Those words had been following us around Rioja like a strange echo. Their name surfaced in nearly every cellar we went to—yet the estate remained mysterious. It didn’t take long before we gave in to temptation and scheduled a visit.
13.5% alcohol content. Hand harvested, whole cluster fermentation in vat, no pigeage or pumping over, pressed when fermentation is complete. Aged for 24 months in a single 1200 L Stockinger foudre.
Vega Sicilia is widely regarded as the greatest wine producer in Spain. The estate in Ribera del Duero is known for its dense, complex red wines made principally from the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grape variety. Its top wine, Unico, is one of Spain's most expensive and sought-after wines.
Rioja Santiago is a tribute to the 150-year history of the winery. Concordia brings together in this wine the authenticity of a Rioja and easy accessibility, made for drinkers of young wines who are introduced to more complete and aged wines.
This is very polished and pretty with dark fruit and hints of cedar and vanilla. It’s medium-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a vivid finish. 100% tempranillo. Enjoyable now, but can improve in the bottle.
Dark berry, oak, and nutmeg aromas with delicious, spicy, and fruity flavor. Pair with spicy chicken, oriental food, or full-flavored meats. 100% Tempranillo. Bottled by Bodegas Ramon Bilbao.
Top wine from this estate. 100% Listán Negro. Powerful nose of minerals and cherry notes, earth, leather, salt, plums, raspberries and other outerworldly notes. On the palate it's elegant and Burgundian with loads of insane depth and particles floating left and right.
