Valtosca V'09 2009
This wine is a syrah from the Valtosca vineyard. It was cold macerated before fermentation in small, underground stone tanks under controlled temperatures for 9–12 days. Malolactic fermentation took place entirely in the barrel. It was then aged for 14 months in French oak barrels with a capacity of 500 liters.
100% Syrah. Produced, elaborated, and bottled by Propiedad Viticola Casa Castillo, a member of Grandes Pagos de Espanya. Don Jose Sanchez-Cerezo acquires Propiedad Viticola Casa Castillo in 1941 in order to grow rosemary. The property already had a winery that was built in 1870 by the French. In 1985, the second generation of the family (Mr. Nemesio and his son Jose M. Vicente) began a new project of vinyard restructuring and the introduction of new varieties. In 1991 the winery was renovated while preserving its original structure, which allowed them to produce their first wine and launch it in the markets in 1993 as "Casa Castillo Crianza 1991." Today Jose M. Vicente manages the wine estate.
