The Eastside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir always shows a darker fruit profile, when compared to its Westside Road counterpart. Aromas of blackberry and black cherry immediately fill the nose, while dried rose petal, mushroom, mocha and cherry cordial further add to the complexity. Succulent in the mouth, the black fruit character and softly textured tannin creates an elegant offering, which can be enjoyed in the near term but will certainly develop well with additional bottle aging. The Legan vineyard is a rugged own-rooted planting of Pinot Noir situated at 1,600’ above the tiny community of Coralitos. The hearty vines at Legan are surrounded by the dense Redwood forest of the Southern Santa Cruz Mountains and have been dry farmed since 1980 in deep sandy loam soil. The cooling influence of the nearby Monterey Bay allows for a long steady growing season that coaxes delicate nuance from the fruit grown here. This vineyard spoke to us the moment we set foot in it and thanks to the meticulous work of viticulturist Prudy Foxx we look forward to stewardship of this special site. Learn More

The Pinot noir was harvested coldand allowed to push a cap before getting one homogenizing pumpover as primary fermentation began. Ina year that was hot and drythere was a threat of heaviness, sothe wine saw minimal cap management, gentle press downs or pumpovers as the fermentation temperature peaked,and was pressed when dry.
