The ripest fruit was selected from the Lodi, Delta, and Clarksburg areas for their Chardonnay wine and they're proud to offer it as the perfect complement to their red wines. The 2021 Dark Horse Chardonnay underwent alcoholic fermentation with hand-selected yeast and then a secondary malolactic fermentation to create a round, full mouthfeel. It showcases rich flavors of baked apple and pear, layered with toasted oak, notes of caramel, and brown spice with a lingering, smooth finish.

Fruity aromas of juicy tangerine, passion fruit, orange blossom water, and lime sherbet with a velvety, crisp, fruity medium body and a sleek, interesting, medium-length lime zest, cream, and pineapple gummies finish. Covenant’s Israeli winery started making Viognier from the Galilee in 2017 under the BLUE C label. It inspired us to see what a California Viognier could deliver using the same production methods. Covenant RED C Viognier comes from the same vineyard in Lodi, CA, that produces our Mensch Roussanne grapes. (Both Viognier and Roussanne are best known as French Rhone varietals.)

This wine is perfumed in brioche and baked apple, with seasonings of nutmeg and vanilla. It opens in a rich, full-bodied concentration of citrus and white peach and evolves on the palate to show structure and depth. Bright acidity lifts hints of toasted oak, maintaining a fresh and plush finish.
Beautiful fruit aromas of zesty lime and Meyer lemon, yellow apple, yellow pear and kiwi complement notes of lemon verbena, chalkboard dust and crushed granite. Broad and juicy, the palate echoes the yellow apple and pear on the nose along with additional notes of apricot, hints of white peach, pineapple and honeysuckle. The delicious fruit flavors carry on a long, minerally finish.
