Stone's Original Green Ginger Wine
Grape wine with sugar-beet neutral spirits, the finest-quality raisins, pure, natural ground-ginger flavor, and caramel color. Many enjoy Stone's on its own or over ice, but it is most famously drunk as a 'Whiskey Mac' when mixed with whiskey.
The warmth of Stone's is a perfect complement to the smooth taste of the whiskey. This perennial 'winter warmer' is the perfect way to relax on a long, dark evening.
Produced and bottled by The Finsbury Distillery Co. for Accolade Wines Ltd. Stone's Original Green Ginger Wine dates back to 1740 and the founding of the Finsbury Distillery in the City of London. The drinks business was booming and distilleries were flourishing across London. This was the era of Hogarth's 'Gin Lane' and the widespread drunkenness in parts of London was becoming cause for concern. As a result, in 1751, an Excise Act was passed prohibiting distillers from selling directly to the public. The Finsbury Distilling Company, like other distillers, had to build a retail network, which included Joseph Stone, a grocer of High Holborn.
