Numerous parts of Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 23 Year Bourbon are dark: dim organic products, dim flavors, coffee simmered espresso, browned butter singed oak, toasted nuts, and star anise are the champion flavors.

Dried fruits ripen, then soften showing off velvet sateen. Vanilla accompanies green apple hand in hand, neither taking the lead. Ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon create an ensemble in the background, with polished oak offering to overstate, yet never does, but plays with a depth of resinous, juicy oranges.

Fragrant red apple skin, orange peel, fruit cake, vanilla and redcurrant. Palate: Silky dried fruits, almost perfumed, with dark toasty notes and some warming ginger. Finish: Figs and dark spices. Overall: Comforting and luxurious Sherried Speyside whisky.

The first release of Big Moustache produced 580 cases from 14 hand selected barrels. The mash build is 80% corn, 10% rye and 10% malted barley. A long fermentation of 3 days makes our whiskey unique.
