M. Chapoutier Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Bernardine 2014
Intense crimson-red color. Complex but subtle aroma with blackcurrant and plum layered with roasted coffee, cinnamon, and black cherry. Spice, liquorice, and both dark and red fruits on the palate.
90% Grenache, 10% Syrah. The Chapoutier family first settled in Tain l'Hermitage (Rhone) back in 1808. They purchased a winery owned by Comte Monier de la Sizeranne and over time acquired a number of excellent vineyards. In 1990, at the age of 26, Michel Chapoutier takes over his family's firm and in 1996, Michel decides to incorporate Braille on all his wine labels. This innovative approach is a tribute to Maurice Monier de la Sizeranne, original owner of the vineyard where Hermitage La Sizeranne wines are made and also inventor of the first version of abbreviated Braille.
