Losen-Bockstanz Riesling Auslese "Wittlicher Felsentreppchen" 2006
A fine dessert wine made from hand-selected, botrytis-touched, very-mature riesling grapes. Enjoy this wine as aperitif or with cheese.
The Losen-Bockstanz estate, situated in the town of Wittlich has deen producing wines in the Mosel since the 16th century. They own vineyards in Wittlicher Klosterweg, Uerziger Wuerzgarten, and Wehlener Klosterberg. The estate remains a family owned operation managed by the vibrant young winemaker, Thomas Losen. He takes great pride in using the most-modern cellar techniques to achieve fine, elegant wines. The wines produced in the environs of Wittlich show the distinctive character of the soil, partly loam, partly red sand-stone as compared to the slate soils at Urzig and other spots in the mittel-Mosel. While the focus of production is riesling, Thomas also releases delicious Kerner, and superb Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir).
