100% Syrah (oldest vines planted in 1955) from Les Rochains adjoining La Landonne on the south side. Southwest exposition. Entirely destemmed. Aged in 400-liter oak casks for 20 months, 25% new, 75% 1-year used.
Patrick and Christophe Bonnefond make very pure, concentrated wines (both Condrieu and Cote-Rotie) with the top cuvees, Rochains and Côte Rosiers, both adjoining La Landonne on either side, built for longue garde (long aging). They are also very good value (like Colline de Couzou) Cote-Rotie. Demi-muids and barrels, and almost no new oak.
