Château Lastours Gaillac Cuvée du Pigeonnier 2020 is an exceptional red wine from the historic Gaillac region of France. Crafted from carefully selected local grape varieties, it boasts rich aromas of dark berries, spices, and a hint of oak.
Very delicate destemming and crushing to preserve the integrity of the dried grapes followed by a long maceration in contact with skins at 23-24°C for 25 days. Ageing in barrels of 25 HL (70%) and in barriques (30%) for 3 years. Dry, very warm, full bodied and intense wine.
Floral aromas of violets and rose petals dance with wild strawberries on the nose of this wine. The mouthfeel, silky and refined, brightens with ripe chokeberry and currant, while touches of pipe tobacco and worn leather round out the sip.
The wine is made from Saperavi grapes which were grown and harvested in an old vineyard of Mukuzani microzone. The wine is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. Bottled in limited quantities. Serve with spicy meat dishes, beef steak or pork barbecue.
