Schloss Lieser SL Feinherb Estate Riesling has herbal and minerally aroma, really flinty on the nose. A slight oily — Riesling-like! – taste without any oily texture. Tastes less sweet than the Willi Haag Estate Riesling and showing a little more development. Long, clean, zesty finish.
This Pinot Noir comes from the Petaluma Gap. The Gap is a smaller AVA within Sonoma County and is known for afternoon winds and cool temperatures through much of the growing season. The vines are often shrouded in fog which makes for a long, cool growing season and maximum flavors. Grapes are hand harvested. Lots are 100% destemmed to lessen tannins, and whole berries are transferred to tank.
The bouquet promises fresh fruits and ripeness as well: yellow apple, honey melon, and a hint of quince. Subtle exotic hints enhance the juicy feeling on the palate, while the classic aspects of Grüner Veltliner with pronounced herbal, spicy, and peppery fruit are evident more during the long aftertaste. The grapes were harvested according to flavour and skin ripeness. To express the purity of fruit flavours from our sitethe majority of the wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks. A 25% portion was fermented in aged oak barriques and another in skins for aromatic spice and texture. The combination gives a wine full of varietal characters that express the site here at URLAR.
