Deep Blue is a blend of seven biodynamic or organically farmed vineyards in the Willamette Valley; Cassin, Roshni, Johan, Momtazi, Nemarniki, Finnigan Hill and Claygate. The vineyards and barrels we selected were chosen for their deeper, blue and black fruit attributes, as well as their lush and silky textures.
The 2013 Cariad Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot, shows great intensity, with a slightly more burning ember and scorched earthiness to it, giving it a more Graves-like character compared to the purity of the Tychson Hill.
Exquisite balance of ripe fruit and oak here, melding together nicely on the full-bodied palate with well-placed tannins that create a pleasant, velvety and fruity carpet that glides gently through the long finish. So well constructed and will be utterly delicious for a long while yet.
Bright cherry, raspberry and strawberry notes greet the nose, along with fresh rose petals, baking spices and hints of earth. Bright acidity on the entrance combines with the showy red fruit and flavors of forest floor, rhubarb, sage and toast on the palate.
Rich, oaky and concentrated, this full-bodied, showy wine offers an abundance of baking spice, raspberry sauce and blackberry jam. It's chock full of fruit and maple flavors that are lifted by a good structure of moderate tannins.
Mighty in concentration, depth and elegance. The bouquet shows beautiful freshness with a cascade of red and dark berry fruit notes followed by hints of rose petal and violet.
Smooth, with a floral perfume, red cherries and berries, and some toasty sweet spice. Pleasingly savoury too, with some dusty layers of wet leaves, meat, and mushroom.
