Tasted at the château, the 2005 Chateau d’Yquem delivers a similar performance as last year. Lucid in colour, the bouquet is detailed with very pure honey, vanilla and almond scents, still a little new oak to be fully assimilated but demonstrating superb focus.
The 2022 Organic Sauvignon Blanc is tropical and rich on the nose. The wine leads with salted pineapple, peach, brine and stewed apples. In the mouth, it is broad, flat and simple. There is fruit there, but its final, best year might be this one. Drink up. 85 Points Wine Advocate

Herzog Variations Oak is a special wine series that journeys beyond the variations of California wine country, and into the Battle of the Barrels. We start with North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon separated into two different types of oak barrels and see which one will come out on top. Oak barrels are a winemaker's spice rack, allowing them to vary the color, flavor, profile and texture of the wine.
Appellation controlled white dry wine, produced from specially selected Rkatsiteli (85%) and Kakhuri Mtsvane (15%) grapes grown in Tsinandalii appellation of Kakheti region. This light straw color wine perfectly preserves aromas typical to these varieties displayed with apples, peaches, pears and ripe apricots. Aftertaste is lingering supported by light acid balancing the fruity sweetness. Recommended serving temperature 52-54 degrees F.
Color: A bright dark wine shot through with highlights.Nose: The noticeable red fruit in the nose is accompanied by aromas of cinnamon and spice.Mouth: Full of jammy red fruit (strawberry), rounded and well-balanced and finishes on notes of spice (vanilla, pepper). Made from Listán Negro sourced from the vineyards of Pedro Umpiérrez and Ascensión Robayna. Vines in excess of 100 years old. Planted in deep, black volcanic sands (up to 3m deep) over clay subsoils. Hand harvested, 90% whole cluster, natural yeast fermentation in amphorae and small fermentation bins. 6 months in neutral 500L French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Fermentation is driven by natural east. Aged in oak barrels this light straw color wine perfectly preserves aromas typical to these varieties displayed with peaches, quince and wild flowers flavors deliciously combined with oak and vanilla notes remaining with long finish. Recommended serving temperature 52-54 degrees F.
