The harvest for the Langhe Nebbiolo DOC Schiavenza is carried out manually between the second half of September and the first of October. The winemaking and aging process includes fermentation and maceration in 30/50 quintal concrete tanks for 15-20 days, maintaining a variable temperature between 30° and 33°C. During this period, two daily pumpovers are carried out to aerate the fermenting must and break the cap
Deep violet in color, intense, and with a great aromatic complexity of red fruits together with floral notes of violets and roses. On the palate, it is a tasty wine with a soft spell and a superb freshness, along with the elegance and power so characteristic of Puente Alto. It is a wine with a velvety texture, lush body, and a very long and persistent finish.
Tom Hinde focuses this wine on the Morisoli Vineyard, a prime benchland site in Rutherford. The 2018 starts out clean and rich, with sweet black raspberry flavors and bold strokes of oak. Return a day or two later, and the wine has emerged from that primary fruit and oak, moving toward scents of roses and Middle Eastern spice. The fruit turns toward black sour cherries while the tannins cushion the tapestry of flavors of scents. Its the kind of tannic beauty that is original to Rutherford.
The nose is expressive of wild strawberry, mulberry, rose, and cedar. The palate reveals a harmony between fresh fruitiness and savory richness, with a persistent, vibrant finish.
Hand-harvested on September 19th, the Mourvèdre grapes were foot-tread and fermented 100% whole cluster with native yeast, basket pressed, then aged in five neutral oak barrels for ten months, then bottled July 12th 2018.
Picturesque and enchanting landscapes of the Upper Ebro give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Spanish winery El Coto de Rioja conjures up this red wine with refinement and experience.
Macán Clásico is deeply attached to its territory, Rioja San Vicente de la Sonsierra compiling centuries of tradition, knowledge and winegrowing culture from the foothills of Sierra de Cantabria. It expresses freshness, fruitiness and delicacy coming from its terroir which provides depth and complexity. Macán Clásico 2016 offers the purest expression of Rioja’s Tempranillo. It’s a fresh wine, but at the same time serious, with persistence and depth.
