Yarden Merlot Non-Mevushal 2021
The Yarden Merlot presents aromatic red and black fruit characters, with hints of fresh herbs, orange blossom, and chocolate. This full-bodied Merlot offers good concentration of flavor and an appealing, lingering finish.
While enjoyable now, this Merlot will continue to evolve and improve with age, remaining in excellent drinking condition for up to a decade. It pairs wonderfully with dishes like Merlot-braised beef short ribs, grilled lamb chops, roast turkey, or a porcini mushroom tart.
Golan Heights Winery, established in 1983, is located in the Golan Heights, a region renowned for its ideal wine-growing conditions—volcanic basaltic soil, suitable topography, and a cool, high-altitude climate. These factors give the Golan Heights its reputation as "wine country." With over 28 vineyards spanning more than 1,500 acres and four leading brands (Yarden, Gamla, Mount Hermon, and Golan), Golan Heights Winery has been instrumental in shaping Israel’s modern wine culture. The Yarden Merlot is crafted from Merlot grapes, with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, all grown in the Golan Heights. The region's cool climate, rocky volcanic soil, and high elevation are perfect for cultivating classic grape varieties. Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, the wine's citrus zest and berry flavors are complemented by rich oak and vanilla nuances.
