Pauillac at its best is deep, intense, full and powerful — the iron fist in a velvet glove. This benchmark example from a well-sited property, with vineyards planted in deep gravel soils, is mainly cabernet sauvignon and has lovely, pure, intense fruit with refined tannins on the finish.

Part of Domaines Martin, which also owns Château Gloria in Saint-Julien, this wine benefits from a classed-growth winery's attention to detail. The wine is rich, dense and structured. Its black-plum and blackberry fruits are rich, sustained by fine tannins and acidity. It's a wine to age, so drink from 2024.

Enjoy the 2019 vintage release of Benevole Bordeaux wine aged in ex-Tennessee whisky barrels for 6 months. The subtle influences of the whisky barrel create an intense, full-bodied wine with typical whiskey flavors of vanilla, spice, smoke, and high tannins. This wine pairs well with a gourmet dinner of roasted lamb or a Buffalo chicken pizza.

La Famille Clarendelle Bordeaux Rouge shows notes of juicy plums, garrigue, cedar, with grippy tannins on the finish.

The estate
A 4th Classified Growth of Saint-Julien, Chateau Talbot is one of the iconic references of Haut-Medoc. Acquired by Desire Cordier in 1918, Chateau Talbot is today managed by Nancy Bignon-Cordier and her husband, Jean-Paul Bignon.

The nose is fruity and spicy, the mouth is fresh with cherry, raspberry and toasty aromas. Silky and delicat tannins, long on the palate.
