The Dalla Valle wines from the 2011 vintage are an achievement. In many parts of Napa Valley, the season brought challenges, like cool temperatures, early rain, and a relatively late harvest. Dalla Valle's vineyard, perched several hundred feet above the valley, with its western exposure and rocky conditions, performed exceptionally well.
The 2016 OVID Napa Valley reflects the pleasure and opulence of the long and nearly perfect growing season from that created it. This wine's dense and powerful palate is complemented by freshness and vibrancy that give it tremendous poise. Stags Leap is one of California’s smallest and most sought after AVAs with only 1,200 planted acres. Unique soil and climate produce Cabernet Sauvignon notable for its distinctive combination of power and elegance. Over the past decade Herzog searched tirelessly for the perfect opportunity to share the wine of this renowned region with the Kosher Wine world. The grapes were harvested at 26° brix and transported to the cellars at 45°F in bins not fully loaded to keep the clusters intact, de-stemmed into a small tank, and fermented for 13 days.
The 2020 Quintessa enters on a core of cassis, black cherry, and currants enveloped by clove spice and savory dried herbs. Layers of structured tannin and the distinct mineral imprint of the Quintessa terroir give way to a structured and polished finish. Balanced and with well-integrated movement, this elegant and complex wine has plenty of life ahead of it – drinking well now and with cellar potential for at least 20 years.
