The 2021 growing season was preceded by mild and dry winter weather from January through March. Winter rainfall was largely absent across Northern California and the Napa Valley entered the growing season with rain totals that ranged from 40 to 60% below normal and had temperatures that were two to three degrees warmer than average.
For over 35 years, the Herzog and Watts families have worked together to grow spectacular Zinfandel in the Mokelumne River region of Lodi. This Zinfandel is crafted from vines up to 80 years old, capturing intense flavors and rich texture. The wine is balanced and not overly sweet, a style modeled after some of the most historic Late Harvest wines of France.
Covenant’s Israeli winery started making Viognier from the Galilee in 2017 under the BLUE C label. It inspired us to see what a California Viognier could deliver using the same production methods. Covenant RED C Viognier comes from the same vineyard in Lodi, CA, that produces our Mensch Roussanne grapes. (Both Viognier and Roussanne are best known as French Rhone varietals.)
For six generations, the Herzog family produced award winning, quality wines in their native Czechoslovakia. Since moving to the United States in 1948, that tradition has continued under the seventh and eighth generations, with a commitment to excellence undiminished by time.
There’s lots of Chenin between here and Santa Barbara, but there is good reason to traverse all those miles. Of all the sites with which the winery works, Jurassic Park, planted on its own roots on quartz sand atop lime- stone in the late 1970s exhibits the most vintage variation, and small variations create very strong signals in the wine. Some years lean toward the lithe and appley; some towards the exotic; some toward the saline and chalky.
A chillable, medium weight red reminiscent of a Côte de Brouilly, but unabashedly Californian. Aromas of black plum, mulberry, and wild sage. On the palate, bing cherry, violet, and rosemary.

Dignitary Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from grapes grown at the base of Chalk Hill, where a slightly warmer climate and rich volcanic soils create ideal conditions for the clone. The wine is aged unfiltered for 18 months in French oak barrels. On the palate, luscious aromas of dark fruit leading to elegant layers of blackberry, black cherry and hints of spice and warm saddle leather on the nose, with a lasting and well balanced finish.
The vines for Dignitary Pinot Noir are heavily influenced by the Petaluma Gap which is a wind gap named after a coastal mountain opening that stretches east from the Pacific. This, combined with maritime breezes, keep day-time temperatures low, creating the perfect environment for growing Pinot Noir. The wine is aged unfiltered for 10 months in 100% French oak barrels. The result is an elegant expression of red and black fruit with subtle hints of spice.
Cline Rock Carved Cabernet Sauvignon has classic Alexander Valley blackberry, boysenberry, and cinnamon flavors with balanced acidity and a full tannin structure. The dark purple color compliments aromas of Blackberry and plum.This complex wine will pair perfectly will steak, lamb, and barbecue.
Fog Swept Pinot Noir attains a perfect balance between old and new world styles of Pinot Noir. It has the rich California flavors of bright cherry, pomegranate, and wild strawberries, while preserving the fresh acidity and classic earthiness that is synonymous with Pinot Noir.
Eight Spur Zinfandel displays loads of bright strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry flavors with hints of cinnamon, tobacco leaf and vanilla. Medium-full bodied with mouthwatering acidity, and fine-grained tannins, the finish is opulent and long.
Ingredients: Chardonnay grapes, fresh ginger. No added sulphur.
Tasting Notes: Nose: Tropical with Banana, floral, lychee, red apple, soft and warm feeling. Palate: Orange and underripe pineapple, kiwi, bright but also was a fresh cream texture. Lactic and tangy.
The 2022 Lumen Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay offers aromas of bartlett pear, ripe peach, fresh red apple, succulent, spring rain and fennel. On the palate, the thin line between the old world and new world. Fresh as the morning dew yet everything that California promises in Chardonnay and rarely delivers…this one does.
The 2019 Chemist is a blend of GSM, Petite Sirah and our newest member, Teroldego. The Chemist has a deep, inky purple color and aromas of berry cobbler, blackberry and tobacco.
