The 2014 Westside Road Neighbors sings with brilliant red fruit notes of red raspberry and cranberry jumping from the glass. Refreshing flavors of Bing cherry and raspberry cling to the palate with tenacity. The mid-palate is subtly smoky and earthy with a touch of tamarind that adds to the complexity. The hits from this vineyard keep on coming and this deep, brooding offering is no exception. To bring out the best of this site, a blend using 6 different clones is made. Fresh notes of rose petal are complemented by an array of red fruits and hints of blood orange. In the mouth, the cherry flavors take over and elements of nutmeg, and subtle hints of vanilla, perfectly balance the palate. The wine is a beautiful red color and slightly opaque. It initially exhibits vibrant aromas of rose petal, violets, fresh strawberry and pie crust. The fruit for this wine comes from four vineyards (Valenti, Fashauer, Perli, Estate) in Mendocino Ridge, and one in Anderson Valley (5% Wendling), all of which are planted at "mid-elevation" between 1200-1400 feet. 55% is from the Drew Estate vineyard. 20% whole cluster fermentation, aged in 10% new French oak.
