The unrushed extravagance of the 2016 growing season finds full expression in this Hexameter. Opulent notes of Rainier cherry, violets, fresh blackberry, and plum mingle serenely with aromas of dark chocolate, molasses and pencil shavings.
From above, this patchwork of vineyards between St. Helena and Calistoaga really resembles a checkerboard. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, barrel fermented, pressed, and then put back in a new barrel to mellow.

Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon has a long and mysterious history here in California. It originally arrived in Napa Valley from Mendoza, Argentina in 1964. How it made its way to South America is still unclear, presumably with French winemakers who were leaving Bordeaux in the late 1800s as phylloxera was devastating the region.
This Experiment is an exploration of the age-ability of mountain Merlot. This wine exhibits voluptuous notes of plum, black cherry and cedar which are complemented by notes of violet candies, mulberry, black olive and orange rind.
