Taltarni Vineyards T Series Chardonnay 2014
Typical of a cool-climate chardonnay this wine is pale straw in color and exhibits lovely notes of stone fruit and citrus, with a hint of flinty oak. The palate is creamy and textural from its time in oak, with lovely natural acidity and a balanced body. Enjoy immediately or cellar for five to seven years.
Established in 1969, Taltarni is one of the founding wineries in Victoria's Pyrenees wine region and a family-owned boutique winery. Their labels feature a 17th-century cartouche. A cartouche is a custom-designed medallion that was worn around the necks of ancient civilisations to protect against loss of name and identity. Worn on each bottle, Taltarni's cartouche presents and protects the identity of the wine. The design on the cartouche, which was a feature of Taltarni's very first label in 1977, depicts Saint Peter holding the keys to the Kingdom. A metaphor, in this case, for key moments in life. Fermented cold in French oak barrels with partial malolactic fermentation on lees for eight months.
