Talisker 44yr Forests Of The Deep
For nearly 200 years, our distillery has been standing proudly by the sea, embracing the elements in a land of extremes – that is the inspiration for the whisky we craft.
The Talisker Expedition Oak Series is a new adventure entirely: a whisky shaped by nature. The series was born to celebrate wild whisky-making with a collection of rare single malt scotches that have been shaped by the natural elements – finished in casks that include staves stressed by a wilderness journey to reveal a truly rare and unique whisky, accentuated by its exposure. In our second adventure, we have partnered with Parley to “Rewild our Seas” with a limited release of 44-year-old rare whisky, finished in casks charred by flames fueled by a mixture of worn oak from our oceanic adventure and sustainably harvested kelp. Includes one 98.2 proof 700 mL bottle of Talisker Forests of the Deep: 44 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Please drink responsibly.Nose: Mellow, light, and peppery at first, complex, top notes are wood-forward (dunnage warehouse, hint of sandalwood), fragrant smoke (smoldering leaves); beneath are scents of tablet toffee, "salt taffy," and some maritime notes (seaweed, warm sand)
Taste: oily, slightly waxy (teeth-coating), lightly sweet, umami-rich taste that becomes smoky-sweet and savory with salt mid-palate and lightly drying
Finish: drying to a long, warming finish. A sweet-chili pepper warmth over the palate. Lingering fragrant smoke and tablet in the aftertaste
