St. Michael-Eppan Alto Adige Chardonnay 2012
With a brilliant greenish-yellow color, this wine has an aroma immediately reminiscent of ripe apples. Add to this a broad and mixed palette of fruit aromas, including melon and banana. In the mouth, this Chardonnay is juicy and delicious, with an inviting and lasting consistency.
Served chilled, it is an excellent accompaniment to fish dishes and also to many other sophisticated dishes. It can also be served as a refreshing and stimulating aperitif.
Founded in 1909, St. Michael-Eppan is one of the finest cooperatives in Alto Adige, Italy. Located in the village of the same name, the cooperative works with more than 350 growers, all of whom share a commitment to ecological balance and vineyard sustainability. Most of the fruit is sourced from vineyards situated at 984-1,640 feet in Southern Tyrol-Appiano, Caldaro, and Mazzon. The portfolio is divided into three categories: the Classic Line—archetypes of their varietals and appellations with outstanding price-to-quality ratio; the Cru Line—unique terroir-based wines from extraordinary single-vineyard sites and Sanct Valentin—top-tier wines from rigorously selected grapes. In 2000, Gambero Rosso named St. Michael-Eppan as the best Italian winery of the year and its long-time winemaker Hans Terzer as one of the ten best winemakers in the world.
