A rich and full nose, with a strong character, there are notes of dried fruit, chocolate and herbs. Sweet and exceptionally well rounded. Toffee and barley sugar with a hint of smoke and peat. Medium to long finish.
In 2018, the Isle of Jura whisky range got a rather snazzy relaunch, which included this tasty 12 year old single malt. Distilled on the eponymous Inner Hebridean island, this expression was initially matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, before being moved over to Oloroso sherry casks for a finishing period. A great example of Jura's delicious malts, more than suitable as an after dinner dram.
Ardbeg's Wee Beastie is a youthful single malt drawn from a combination of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, bottled up at five years of age. Peaty notes sit at the fore for this one, with oak somewhat taking a back seat, since...
Orchard house gathers together some of the fruitiest malts Scotland has to offer, including whiskies from the Linkwood and Clynelish Distilleries; what's more, we have sourced many of these whiskies as new spirit and laid them down in our own oak casks. Golden amber. A sweet and mellow aroma of butterscotch gives way to subtle hints of almonds, marzipan, and vanilla. Initially dry, giving way to a mellow soft sweetness with a lingering creamy mouth feel. Full-bodied, with a long, lingering and slightly dry finish.
