This expression is presented at natural cask strength, as was the custom before the turn of the 20th century. Add a drop or two of water to reveal a cornucopia of flavour - from richly spiced bramble wine to chocolate raisin and lingering Seville orange peel. Such is the reward of their eleventh batch of the GlenDronach Cask Strength, a richly sherried Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in fine Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso Sherry Casks.
“Madly sited”, perched high between two mountain ranges on a pass once a meeting point for cattle drovers on their way to market. The name Dalwhinnie translates from Gaelic as “Plain of Meetings”. Surviving periods of closure, the distillery has produced its distinctive single malt since 1947, only being completely modernized in 1996. Dalwhinnie has the coldest annual mean temperature of any inhabited place in Scotland and is so cold in winter, that the water in the outside worm tubs can freeze. That very coldness lends an intensity to the spirit that is even more marked in winter.

The 21 Year Old Speymhor Single Malt was distilled in the Speyside region, which is the region that hosts the most Malt Whisky distilleries in Scotland. The world renowned River Spey brings copious quantities of fresh, clean water to the local distilleries which together with the mountain air and rural nature of Speyside combine to produce the magical quality of Speyside Malts. This Malt has been aged in former bourbon casks which have enhanced its development.
A lovely 18 year old bottling that perfectly illustrates the qualities of Glencadam’s flowery single malt.
Despite having been around for about 200 years, Glencadam is one of those distilleries that is often overlooked. Releases like this bottling suggest this will not be the case for much longer.
New permanent addition to the Highland Park core range that will be released in annual batches, each with a different cask make-up and flavor profile. Experience Highland Park in its purest form, straight from the barrel.
Very sweet with a smooth, creamy texture, this is a Speyside whisky with chocolate and custard notes early on that indicate the dessert nature of this tipple, with slight zesty, tropical fruity notes showing that it also has a vibrant side. There are lemon notes throughout this dram, as well as vanilla sponge and marzipan that demonstrate the softer side of this whisky.
Tamnavulin, from Tomnavoulin, Ballindalloch, Banffshire, is one of the many distilleries built in the boom period of the 1960s to keep up with the public interest. Sweet and zesty with lots of fruity notes – such as pineapple, grapefruit and banana – through most of the dram but the finish is more mellow and provides a calming, smooth end to the experience.
Founded during the ‘whisky boom’ of the late 19th century, Aultmore Distillery has changed hands several times throughout the years. This Speyside bottling has prominent Christmassy notes of orange peel, cinnamon sticks, dried fruits and walnuts. A great dram for those who enjoy something on the sweeter side.
