A promise that Irish oak will continue to grow there for centuries to come.
The third of seven expressions in this limited series from the venerable Midleton distillery. Kylebeg Wood – or An Coill Beag, as it is in Irish – refers to ‘the little wood,’ a carefully managed forest that has stood on the Ballykilcavan Estate since the 17th century.
Number six in the seven-strong Kylebeg Wood series was aged in fresh hogsheads coopered from a single Irish oak tree. The pot still whiskey filled into those casks is packed with Midleton’s characteristic orchard fruit and spice, enhanced by a set of secondary flavours unique to one tree, from one forest, on a single estate in Ireland.
Red Spot is one of the flagship expressions from the Spot Whiskey label, which dates its history back to 1805. Historically, spots were painted on the barrels that matured their whiskey below the streets of Dublin to indicate age.
The Redbreast Kentucky Oak Edition is triple distilled in copper pot stills and matured in American Bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso Sherry butts. Then it’s finished for a minimum of 4 months in hand selected, air-dried American Oak from the Taylor family farm in Kentucky.

After fifteen months, the staves were coopered into hogsheads and sent back to Ireland to be filled with this unique spirit.
