French Armagnac is a distinctive kind of world oldest Craft brandy produced in the Armagnac province, between the Adour and Garonne rivers in the foothills of the Pyrenees, southwest France in the fertile Gascony region by small producers.
Bright amber in color, with hints of gold. An initially oaky bouquet is followed by an intense fragrance. On the palate it is very mellow with a slight burn. Elegant floral and spice aromas give way to woody herbs, vanilla, raisins and other fried fruits.
The first non-XO release from Cognac house Tesseron still offers plenty of complexity, with notes of spice and stewed fruit alongside floral notes. A versatile Cognac that is a beautiful sipper but will transform your Cognac cocktails, and one made with eaux-de-vie from the region’s two top areas, Grande and Petite Champagne.
Armagnac is the oldest brandy (and liquor) recorded to be still distilled in the world. Markovic Estates keeps this tradition alive by sourcing the finest grapes from the Armagnac region in Gascony, southwest France.
