The aroma has notes of wild berries and vanilla. In taste well structured, with lots of fruit and notes of tobacco and cocoa. The tannins are soft and well integrated, with a silky and long finish.
The "Gardetta" is named after an old, small building whose original owners were the "Gardetta Counts" and used to dry the grapes. The Gardetta is in parts an Appassimento. After the harvest, a small portion of the grapes are not processed but stored in crates until January. In January these grapes are then vinified and both base wines are mixed to mature together. The maturation takes place for 12 months in barriques and large barrels.
