Rock.Face Syrah 2012

On the palate, blue and black fruit coats the mouth, followed by sweet, textured spices, and an iron-like minerality. Over several hours the wine fills out nicely; there is a gentle viscosity and plenty of ripe red and blue fruit on the finish, where there is a stony note with a touch of cedar.

Nestled between the San Francisco Bay and the Sierra Nevada Mountains lies Lodi Wine Country, a region fast becoming one of California's true wine stars. Lodi's classic Mediterranean climate yields wines that are balanced and full bodied, with fruit-forward flavors and aromas. This wine comes from a few vineyard sites that range in age from 15-80+ years. Syrah thrives in this climate. There are many old vines and re-plantings that complement the fruit forward and rustic nature of the Lodi region.
