Smoky mineral, salty wet rock, yellow plum. Incredibly light for 12.5%, seemingly bone dry with delineated acid. Think Wachau Smaragd Riesling from a cool vintage.
Despite the Southern Oregon locale, this is the coolest vineyard in our portfolio. Just 50 years ago, a large creek once inhabited this stoney Riesling site that sits near the California border, less than 25 miles from the Pacific. Blue serpentine can be found scattered in between dense piles of river rock, where minerals such as magnesium, iron and nickel trickle into the soil. The high mineral content creates soil deficiencies that cause the 20 year old vines to produce concentrated, lower yields similar to old vines.
