Olivier Leflaive Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2009
Chardonnay | France
The village of Meursault is an important appellation for Maison Olivier Leflaive as it is the home of chief winemaker Franck Grux. The Maison typically produces up to 10 cuvées including Premiere Crus; Perrières, Charmes, Genevrières, Poruzots and Narvaux.
The Charmes (Charming) vineyard is the largest and most famous of the Meursault Premiere Crus with over 76 acres under vine. It sits south of the village and directly abuts Puligny Montrachet. While there are many terroirs throughout the vineyard, soil composition is primarily clay combined with limestone on the upper slopes. Leflaive's grapes are sourced from various parcels within the vineyard.
