Mooiplaas Bush Vines Chenin Blanc 2011
Wine shows typical beeswax/dried peach on the nose with good weight and balance on the palate. The minerality in the 2011 is more pronounced than the 2010, probably because of less botrytis. A full, ripe wine showing tropical flavors on the nose while an extended-lees contact gives a rich silkiness to the palate, including a long finish.
94% Chenin Blanc, 6% Semillon. The wine can be enjoyed when young, but the full, rich style suggests good potential for development in the bottle for two to three years after the vintage. Mooiplaas (meaning beautiful farm) is situated outside Stellenbosch, high in the Bottelary Hills (a ward of the famous Stellenbosch wine district), in the heart of the Cape winelands. The estate has been the home of the Roos family, owned and managed, since 1963.
