Jules Desjourneys Moulin a Vent 2009
Gamay | France
Dark aromas of iris, black raspberry, and black tea. Savory hints of game and smoke underlie rich, black fruit.
The story of Jules Desjourneys begins when Fabien Duperray, after 20 years as a distributor, acquired some very old vines in some of the best terroirs of Beaujolais. Eager to show what Beaujolais was truly capable of, Duperray left his position as a merchant and devoted himself to winemaking. He began to farm the land biodynamically, weeding by hand, aging in custom barrels, and paying close attention to every detail of the winemaking process. Duperray takes his wine through a 36-month elevage before bottling.
