Josh Cellars Merlot 2022

This Merlot, created in a Bordeaux-style blend, offers aromas of black cherries, fresh plums, with overwhelming violet and dark chocolate the bouquet. On the palate, the wine is layered with fresh bing cherries, rich baked plums, and mocha flavors, accented by savory spices and toasted oak. It is softened by its delicate, soft, supple, almost luxurious texture, and given staying power with a long, lingering raspberry- and cocoa-powder finish.

85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Blended & bottled by Joseph Carr. "My father's name was Joseph, as is mine, but his friends just called him Josh." Growers, that Josh calls friends, all lend a hand in this "winemakers wine," what they jokingly refer to as a "vin de garage"—a handcrafted wine they made just for themselves. A wine that is bold and expressive, but unassuming and approachable. It's funny how these characteristics seem to remind Josh of someone that he knew. It's a wine he made for his family, his friends, and a man he called Dad.
