Eyrie Vineyards Chardonnay Original Vines 2016
Eyrie Chardonnays are built to age. Eyrie's contribution to Oregon Chardonnay cannot be overstated. From my perspective, the Oregon Chard boom was largely spurred by Eyrie's revelatory 30-year vertical tasting of their Chardonnays (which I was very fortunate to attend). A complex and youthfully fascinating wine today, the real pleasure comes with age. - Marcus
93 points Wine Advocate: "A barrel selection (from grapes in Eyrie's original vineyard, planted in 1965), the 2016 Chardonnay Original Vines has a wonderful perfume of chamomile and orange blossoms with notes of honey, hay and dried leaves. Medium to full-bodied and creamy textured, it offers up lovely honey, white flowers and soft lemon citrus flavors in the mouth with tangy, juicy acidity, finishing very long and layered with a streak of crushed rock minerality and a touch of phenolic texture. 150 cases produced."
