Episode Napa Valley 2010
Tasting Notes: Those dipping into their stock early will find rewards in giving the 2008 EPISODE extra time in the glass, allowing the many layers of complexity to be revealed.
This wine impresses immediately with aromas of brooding dark fruits that also linger on the palate, accented by anise and dark chocolate. The rich mouth feel and very lengthy finish round out this experience. Varietal Composition: 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot
The Vintage: The defining characteristic of the 2010 growing season was variability with a cool spring and waves of heat and cool weather throughout the summer. But after all the ups and downs, blissfully sunny weather through September brought excellent ripening to a small crop of tiny berries that produced a wine that was dark and tight. As the wine has developed, it is emerging into a stunning bottling that has only begun to reach its potential. Winemaking: The grapes were fermented by small lots in stainless steel tanks with extended time on the skins prior to pressing. Aging took place in 100% new French oak barrels for 20 months, with an additional 16 months in bottle prior to release.
