Domaine Jacques Prieur Mersault Clos de Mazeray Blanc Appellation Village 2013
This 6-acre, walled vineyard in the heart of Meursault is a monopole for Domaine Jacques Prieur. The vineyard sits in a rather flat position with rich clay soils covering what was once a riverbed. Gold green with silver grey reflections. Slightly iodized, marine with notes of oyster shell, salt, and candied lemon-peel aroma. Fresh palate and tangy finish.
100% Chardonnay. It would be an understatement to claim that Domaine Jacques Prieur's vineyard holdings are great. The domain is the only property in Burgundy to own vineyards in five of the region's most-famous Grand Cru vineyards: Le Montrachet, Le Corton, Les Echezeaux, Le Musigny, and Le Chambertin. The domain also holds vineyards in 17 other prestigious appellations for a total of 51 acres under vine. Founded in 1956, today the domain is owned by the charming, understated Edouard Labruyere.
