Domaine de la Barbiniere Les Silex Blanc 2013

This blended, typically Vendeen wine demonstrates the finesse and elegance of Chenin and Chardonnay together. The nose shows notes of white fruit and pear. The mouth is full, rich, and well balanced with aromas of pear and white fruit. Youthful, this wine will feel at ease with products from the ocean or rivers (seafood, fish), and evolve with cheese (goat, etc.) and fish sauces.

60% Chenin, 40% Chardonnay. Domaine de la Barbiniere was taken over by Philippe Orion in 1978, after his father who started the domain with only 7 acres. The property has expanded to 77 acres and is run since 2006 by Philippe's sons, Alban and Vincent. It is located on the western edge of the Loire Valley and benefits from the cooling influence of the Atlantic ocean.
