Cruz de Alba 2011
Cruz de Alba, meaning "The Cross of Dawn," is a modern-style wine with a fruitier character. Intense cherry red, with dark purple tones. On the nose it shows clear notes of ripe red and black berries with a mix of sweet spices, such as cinnamon surrounded by fresh tones of mint. Massive fruit on the palate with hints of juicy red plums, smoke, and mineral at the background. Long and persistent finish with a pleasant, acidic mouthfeel.
100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo). Cruz de Alba is a venture of Ramon Bilbao with the first vintage in 2003. Biodynamics plays an important role at the estate, seking to move beyond simply organic practices to integrate the vineyard with the diverse forces of nature influencing the vine. The result of these practices can be tasted in the quality and elegant style of the Cruz de Alba wines. Cruz de Alba is a selection of the best grapes from old vineyards in Ribera del Duero. handpicked grapes, traditional winemaking, and new American- and French-oak barrels conform an elegant, distinctive, and singular wine.
