Crochet Sancerre Dominique et Janine 2022
The Crochet family has deep roots in the Sancerre area of the Loire valley. The branch represented by Dominique and Janine Crochet stems from a long line of winegrowers and winemakers in the village of Bué, just outside the town of Sancerre itself.
Dominique and Janine’s 12 hectares of vineyards grow in a range of soils: from marl to kimmeridgian limestone to flint. Their Sancerre blanc draws from a selection of the domaine’s parcels in order to harmonize the unique qualities of the different vineyard sites. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this is classic Sancerre sauvignon blanc: fresh, vibrant, and mineral. In drinking this 2021 vintage while it is still young, we can enjoy the brightness and vivacity before it mellows. Aromatic on the nose, this wine offers grapefruit and stone fruits with a hint of caraway. On the palate, spicy yuzu persists in a long finish. Sustainably grown.
