Companyia de Vinos del Atlantico (CVA) was founded in 2002 with the purpose of uniting the winemaking heritage of Alberto Orte and Patrick Mata's families. Both of their families have been producing wine, independently, throughout Spain since the late 1800s. CVA currently produces wines in 18 different appellations within the Iberian Peninsula. The goal of CVA is to handcraft "elaborar" wines that expresses the identity of the place where they come from. This wine is produced from vines located within the Rioja wine region (Xone 3) at 1,865-ft. elevation, growing in clay and sandy soil. Average temperature during the growing season from April-October is 62 degrees F and annual rainfall is 18.3 in.
