Chateau Haut Blaignan Medoc 2016
Blend | France
The vines are, on average, 25 years old and plantings are split equally between Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine, from the great 2016 vintage, has aromas of spice, earth, and red fruits; on the palate it is supple, then ample and velvety underpinned by plump tannins.
Founded only in 1945, this chateau has always been the property of the Brochard-Cahier family. Having studied viticulture and oenology, Christelle Cahier gradually took up the reins of the estate from 1991 together with her husband, who tends the vines while she is busy in the winery. Situated in the village of Blaignan, the estate has expanded to cover 40 acres at present, divided into four large blocks.
