Chateau de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes 2013
Chardonnay | France
A full-bodied Burgundy Chardonnay with aromas of powder, vanilla, yellow apples and pears. Full and robust, requiring aeration to allow the flower and fruit notes to display full potential.
The domaine today covers around 15 hectares – large for a private domaine – 2 of which are Santenay, the rest is Chassagne, 40% of the total is red. At the helm is Jean-Pierre Cournut who took over the estate from his father Andre in 1993. Starting with the vines in Chassagne, the domaine has enough for two barrels per year of Bâtard-Montrachet and produces 10 different premier crus: The Dents de Chien and La Romanée which tend to be the more mineral wines, Jean-Pierre Cournut even likes to compare these to Perrières or Charlemagne.
