This reserve wine is meticulously crafted from grapes harvested from the finest plots. The blend is carefully composed and then aged in French oak barrels for a period of 9 months.
The 2010 vintage has delivered a beautifully fragrant wine with layered aromas of blackberry, cassis, cinnamon cake, anise, cardamom, tobacco leaf, and mocha. On the palate, the entry is soft and smooth with blueberry and bittersweet chocolate flavors, as well as notes of red currant, cedar, and sweet spice.
The winery's flagship wine takes its name from the estate, the ca' marcanda, the house of endless negotiations. The name refers to the many hours that Angelo Gaja spent convincing the property's previous owners to sell the estate vineyard that produces this wine to him.
The frozen Vidal grapes were harvested in late December 2019 when temperatures fell between -10ºC and -13ºC. After settling the juice in stainless steel tanks, cool fermentation was completed in late-February when the wine was placed outdoors to stop fermentation and to complete natural cold stabilization.

The 2012 is quite pale at the present time, with brilliant green highlights. The nose is well-defined and mineral. Still very young and quite elegant, this wine has yet to reveal its full complexity.
