Very pale yellow. Classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc aromas of lifted citrus, tropical fruit, and crushed herbs. A fresh, juicy wine with vibrant acidity and plenty of weight and length on the palate. Ripe, tropical fruit flavor with passion fruit, melon, and grapefruit.
Sourced from several plots all situated in the lieu-dit of Les Boucauds, this cuvée employs close to 50% of the Sauvignon Blanc planted on the estate. Entirely from terres blanches soils – marls and clays over Kimmeridgian limestone – this wine represents a pure expression of this site as well as the deft winemaking of Stéphane Riffault.
The 2021 growing season was preceded by mild and dry winter weather from January through March. Winter rainfall was largely absent across Northern California and the Napa Valley entered the growing season with rain totals that ranged from 40 to 60% below normal and had temperatures that were two to three degrees warmer than average.
Our first Chenin Blanc was meticulously harvested early in the season to retain its acidity and aromas. This wine underwent partial aging in the finest oak barrels. Exhibiting a bright straw hue, this well-structured wine boasts aromas reminiscent of fresh spring flowers, guava, ripe citrus fruit, and Anjou pear.
The Ashes & Diamonds 2019 Blanc No. 5 is a pristine blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon by Steve Matthiasson, offering a glimpse into Napa's styles of days gone by. The Psagot Blanc de Blancs was produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The wine went through secondary fermentation in bottle and aged on its lees for 6 years before release.
