The Opus One 2021 effuses seductive, dark-fruit aromas of crushed cassis, blackberry, and black cherry with subtle hints of violet, vanilla, and baking spices. Bright and fresh on the attack, concentrated flavors mirror the aromas and are coupled with an exceptionally plush, creamy texture in the mid-palate from the fine-grained tannins.
The immediate impression is of the mildness of the pure, airy, bright bouquet. A floral, fruity pastel tone then unfolds and quickly darkens into candied fruit, ripe hay and toasted notes, along with hints of licorice.
This unique bottling is a blend of Cognacs coming from ten demijohns dated from 1853-1906. As soon as you pour out a generous flute of this bubbly you’ll notice the fine bubbles and vibrant aromas of ripe berries, lemon zest and ripe apples. The first sip showcases a rich mousse and uplifting lemon and white peach flavours punctuated with hints of pastries and toast.
